FAQ

Q: What is Jukkendo?

A: Although Jukkendo is a relatively new martial art in its current form, it is comprised of a combination of Judo and Jiu Jitsu techniques that have been used for centuries to instill physical and mental discipline and teach self-defense. Students learn Jukken-Judo (throwing techniques), Jukken Jiu-Jitsu (ground techniques) and Jukken-Atemi (striking techniques) in tandem with one another as part of a well-rounded martial arts approach.

Q: What are the benefits?

A: Apart from the obvious benefits that regular physical activity can bring to your health, the discipline and focus that students learn from practicing martial arts can be applied positively to nearly any aspect of life. Parents often find that their child’s Jukkendo studies have helped them succeed in the classroom and extra-curricular activities where they can apply valuable lessons involving the control, restraint, and concentration they have learned at Combat Dojo. Adult classes focusing more on combat technique allow adult students to learn valuable self-defense techniques while also instilling a sense of greater discipline and self-confidence.

Q: Do I need experience? What If I’m out of shape?

A: All levels are welcome. Everyone has to start somewhere, and there is no better way to learn than with Sensei Gene’s practical approach to the fundamentals of martial arts. No matter your current level of experience or fitness, you can grow and learn with the Jukkendo approach.

Q: Do I need my own equipment?
